**Determination of the Minimum Probability of Paternity**

In cases of questioned paternity that serve as the specific focus of the present study, DNA typing to prove paternity requires statistical analysis of the supposed match between the DNA profile of the alleged father (probability of paternity) against the probability that this match was due to chance (probability of non-paternity). To assess the weight

of a DNA match, i.e. paternity vs. non-paternity, there is a need to define the minimum probability value of paternity based on empirical data and the appropriate population genetic database.
